We all go to work, some of us work hard, other work just enough. As a lifeguard, I always work hard, and get told it’s not enough. But that’s okay, in any job it’s never enough.
Well, no, it’s not okay. I spend my day staring at a pool, only telling people “no, you can’t do that,” “you’re not allowed in the pool without an adult,” “you can’t have that equipment you payed for and brought specially because your kids love using it.” If that isn’t hard enough to do all day without your head melting, we have to clean everything aswell.
Imagine you do all of this and take the backlash of all the yelling and swearing and complaining gracefully. Next imagine that your manager isn’t trained to work or manage a pool. That’s what I deal with, I have to do everything arseways round because if I suggest to my manager the easier way to do something, and he says no, I must follow the blindman, because we all love getting lost, right.
We all work hard, but we’re only as strong as our weakest link, and if your weakest link is the manager, get out of there, it’s not gonna end well.
